Wide COB strip
A curved strip gives even, wide light with soft edges and few hard shadows. It is the best choice within a few metres: workbenches, tents, engine bays and kitchens. It will not throw as far as the spot, and that is by design.
LumiLight LED HeadLamp is a general-purpose light, not a substitute for required road, bicycle or vehicle lighting or for certified safety equipment. Lumen, runtime and water-resistance figures are maximums from specific tests and vary in real use. Do not shine into eyes. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.
A 230° curved LED strip, a dedicated spotlight and adjustable brightness, in one USB-rechargeable headlamp. Verified specifications, no hype.

LumiLight is a rechargeable LED headlamp designed for hands-free light. It sits on an adjustable headband and combines a wide curved LED strip with a separate spotlight, so one lamp can light up a workspace at arm's length or a path further ahead.
Most basic headlamps use a single round LED that produces a bright centre and dark edges. That is fine for walking a straight path, but it is tiring for close work: your eyes keep adjusting between a bright hotspot and a dark surround. LumiLight's curved strip spreads light across a very wide field, so a bench, an engine bay or a tent interior is evenly lit.
The COB (chip-on-board) strip is the wide light. The XPE LED is the spotlight. You can use either on its own, at 100% or 40% output, or run both together in the strobe mode. Because each source has its own brightness steps, you can choose exactly as much light as you need and save the rest of the battery.
With gloves, grease, mud or a wet hand, small buttons are frustrating. LumiLight includes a motion sensor: wave a hand in front of the lamp and the wide light switches on or off. The same lamp also has a conventional button for cycling through modes, so you are never forced to rely on the sensor.
It suits campers, hikers, runners and walkers, DIYers, people who fix cars, tradespeople on worksites and households that want a dependable light for power outages. It is not designed for hazardous atmospheres, diving or replacing legally required lights on bicycles or vehicles.
Three numbers describe most headlamps, and each one tells only part of the story. Here is what they mean, how they interact, and the verified values for LumiLight.
Lumens measure the total light a source emits in all directions. A higher number means more total light, not necessarily a longer reach. A wide strip of 350 lumens spreads that light across a large area, while a 350-lumen spot concentrates it into a narrow cone, so the spot looks far more intense in the centre.
Lux is the amount of light landing on a surface; candela is the intensity in one direction. The FL1 standard calculates beam distance from peak candela, which is why a spot has a long rated distance while a wide light does not. For close work, even lux across a wide area matters more than peak candela.
Under FL1, runtime is the time until output drops to 10% of the level measured 30 seconds after switch-on. A lamp can still glow beyond that point, but it is no longer useful. Runtime is always quoted for a specific mode, so compare like with like.
The 230° figure is the horizontal angle across which the strip emits visible light. Effective distances are the range at which a 1 lux reading was measured on a bench.
| Activity | Typical lumens | LumiLight mode |
|---|---|---|
| Reading, camp tasks | 20–100 | COB 40% |
| DIY, car repair | 150–350 | COB 100% |
| Walking and hiking | 150–350 | XPE 40% / 100% |
| Trail running | 250–400 | XPE 100% + COB |
| Power outage | 50–200 | COB 40% |

What each feature does, why it is there, and where its limits are.
A curved strip gives even, wide light with soft edges and few hard shadows. It is the best choice within a few metres: workbenches, tents, engine bays and kitchens. It will not throw as far as the spot, and that is by design.
A focused beam at 350 or 150 lumens for longer distance: trail bends, signs, a gate across a field. At 150 lumens it is gentler on your battery and on the eyes of anyone you meet.
An infrared sensor on the front detects a hand within about 5 cm and toggles the wide light. It works with gloves. A long press on the button locks the sensor so the lamp cannot switch on in a bag.
A 1,200 mAh lithium-ion cell charges fully in about 4 hours from any 5 V USB source. A charge indicator turns red while charging and green when full. No disposable batteries to carry.
An elastic, breathable band fits head circumferences of 48–62 cm. At 68 g in total, the lamp stays put when you run and does not leave pressure marks on long wear.
Rated IPX4 under IEC 60529: protected against splashing water from any direction. Rain, sweat and spray are fine. Do not submerge it and dry the USB port before charging.
The right light depends on the task, not only on the lumen figure. Here is how we recommend using each mode for common jobs.
Use the COB strip at camp for cooking, packing and reading, and switch to the XPE spot on the trail. On a multi-day trip, stay in the 40% modes: you get about nine to eleven hours per charge. Tilt the lamp down when talking to others to avoid glare.
The lamp is light enough to forget, and the strip lights the ground just ahead of your feet. Combine it with reflective clothing and a rear light, and follow local rules on which side of the road to use.
Under a bonnet or in a loft, light follows your eyes. Wave to switch on when your hands are oily. Avoid use near petrol vapour: this lamp is not rated for explosive atmospheres.
A handy general light for inspection and tidying. It is not certified safety equipment, so follow your site's rules on approved lighting and head protection.
Hands-free light to cook, check a fuse box or carry a child. Keep the lamp fully charged in a known place, and recharge it from a power bank if the grid stays down.
Tie knots and bait hooks with the wide strip, then use the 150-lumen spot to find the water's edge. Splash resistance helps on a wet bank.
Buyers often ask what to choose. Here is our straightforward guidance, based on how people use the lamp, not on what is most expensive.
A practical rule is to keep one lamp where you will need it in the dark: the glove box, the hallway cupboard and the camping bag. A light you cannot find during an outage is no use, so spares are not wasteful.
If you mostly run or cycle at night, remember that a headlamp supplements, and never replaces, the lights your local law requires on your bike or vehicle.
From first search to long-term use, here is what to expect at every step, so there are no surprises.

We designed this journey around the questions customers actually ask: Will it be bright enough? Will it switch on by accident? Can I return it? Each answer appears on this page before you buy.
A headlamp points where you look and frees both hands. A flashlight gives a longer, narrower throw but occupies one hand. A lantern lights a whole area but cannot follow you.
Any task where your hands are busy: cooking, repairing, climbing, carrying, fishing, first aid. Because the light moves with your head, you never have to ask someone to hold it, and shadows from your own hands are reduced.
Searching a long distance, signalling or checking a far fence line. A good flashlight usually has a bigger reflector and can throw further than a small headlamp spot.
Lighting a campsite table or a room during an outage. Lanterns spread light 360° but are heavy to carry and do not help on the move.
A wide beam gives peripheral vision, which helps you judge terrain and spot movement at the edge of view. A spot beam gives distance. LumiLight combines both so you can choose quickly. Many users run the wide light for the ground and the spot for far targets, switching between them as the terrain changes.
Headlamps for kids deserve extra care: pick the 40% modes, teach children never to look into someone's face, and supervise charging.
Battery life is the most misunderstood headlamp number. It depends on mode, temperature, battery age and how often you switch.
UN 38.3 transport testing and IEC 62133 cell safety standards exist to reduce lithium-ion risk. Follow airline rules when flying with a lamp: devices with built-in batteries generally travel in carry-on luggage.
It takes under five minutes to set up. Try each mode at home first so you know how it behaves in the dark.
Connect the USB-C cable to a standard 5 V source. The indicator is red while charging and green when full, in about four hours.
Adjust the headband so the lamp sits snugly on your forehead, with the strip level. Tilt it to aim the spot.
Wave your hand in front of the sensor to switch the wide light. Press the button to cycle spot, brightness levels and strobe.

Seeing is only half of night safety: being seen matters just as much. Use LumiLight alongside, not instead of, proper visibility gear.
A headlamp helps you see and be seen from the front, and many riders add one for the turns. Most countries still require a fixed front white light and a rear red light on public roads, with rules that differ by country, state and time of day. Check your local regulations, for example the UK Highway Code, German StVZO or your state road code.
Wipe the lens with a soft damp cloth, keep the USB port clean and dry, and rinse off salt or mud with fresh water, then air-dry before charging. Store the lamp in a cool, dry place, away from direct sun.
A fair comparison with common categories. Ranges are typical market values rather than specific products.
